This is the shocking moment a passerby pushed a police officer off his motorbike and into the path of a car.

The footage, believed to be filmed in Essex, started with two officers in high-vis jackets who were seen driving motorbikes down a busy street in front of a police car.

All three vehicles had their blue lights flashing and sirens blaring.

But as the bikes waited to allow the police car through stopped traffic, a passerby – seen in a light coloured T-shirt and beige trousers – suddenly sprinted out into the street and pushed the officer from his bike.

The man dashed away straight after the random attack while the officer tried to free himself from his fallen bike.

When free, the officer jumped over his bike and ran after the attacker – with his colleague also in hot pursuit.

The person filming the video was heard saying: ‘Jesus christ’ as they watch the incident.

Music manager Jerome Haye shared the clip on Twitter with the caption ‘@metpolice getting pushed to their limits’.

He believes his friend filmed the clip in Essex, but the exact location, time and date are unclear. Essex Police have been contacted for comment.

Social media users were quick to comment on the video, as one wrote: ‘The rider could’ve broken a leg or worse.’ Another said: ‘I hope they caught up with him.’
